off the board. chandler jones had been trying all day against michael oher but, most importantly, first down again against first and goal from the five. fake to rice. flacco. and it is caught by torrey smith for a second touchdown! >> cris: what a catch! he is getting grabbed. it looked like he extends one arm to hold off the defender and catches it with the other. >> al: this is just astonishing what smith is doing in this game. >> cris: watch this. he's got -- oh, he gives a little push off there as well. extends that right arm. that's one heck of a play. i mean, this game is like going back in time 30 years and watching the nfl. they are just battling out there on the outside. some of them are called, some of
11:31 pm
them aren't. but the crowd takes a chant now. >> al: they are chanting tor to, torrey. unbelievable performance by torrey smith and back to two-point new england lead with four minutes to go. . but if you're of like mind, roll up your sleeves. we've got a banquet waiting for you. coors. the banquet beer.

11:34 pm
he left it up to torrey what he should do. there he is. we talked about his brother kevin and the fact that torrey when growing up was pretty much a dad to his young siblings. was out on the field later tonight and eyes completely red. plays tonight. six catches. two touchdowns. amazing. from the 20 yard line. on first down, swing pass is dropped by ridley. best possible result for the ravens, not only incomplete, but it it stops the clock at 3:57. >> cris: the other thing is they got rob gronkowski in blocking now. here is a record-setting tight end and because of all the pressure that the ravens have been bringing, they basically now just said we got to run him inside and just help block. >> al: second and ten with an
11:35 pm
empty backfield. >> cris: they got a problem on this one. >> al: and welker to the 31 yard line. tackled by pollard. again, it's wes welker having a tremendous night. >> cris: bernard pollard was trying to scream at his defense back saying nobody is over here. we got a guy that led the nfl in catches last year and nobody guarded him for a give-away first down. they just screwed up the -- >> al: eight receptions and 142 yards and work on the clock. ravens with all of their time-outs and two-minute warning. toss to ridley. blocking out in front. administration is sifting through the trash is upshaw and stop for a two-yard gain. second down. >> cris: boy i tell you what, that is good hustle by the rookie right there coming all
11:36 pm
the way across the formation basically unblocked and able to get in on that tackle. athleticism they were hoping to grab for and they got it. >> al: second down and eight. harbaugh hoping for a stop here so he can take the time-out and preserve the other two. all three remaining. clock milked all the way down by brady and then he throws and that is incomplete. intended for lloyd. so they will have to use a time-out. the clock stops at 2:28. upcoming is a huge third down. >> cris: i tell you, gronkowski and ray lewis are going at it. watch coming down here. ray kind of wraps his arm around him. no call. you want to know why this game has gone crazy? because you can get away with plays like that. that's just the way the game has been tonight. >> al: you can get away with a lot and some stuff, you can't
11:37 pm
get away with at all. third and eight. that is picked off at the 41 yard line but a flag is thrown! that is lardarius webb taking it away from welker and who are they calling this one on? it's going to be against the ravens. the way they are responding. >> cris: we talked about it all night the key matchup. >> referee: defense number 21. five-yard penalty. automatic first down. >> al: there that is little itty-bitty five-yard penalty that results the other way for new england. >> cris: illegal contact. the key is how far down the field. five yards. you got to release him. they didn't call hold. they called illegal contact and i thought he let go at five yards. boy, this game has been just all over the place down field.
11:38 pm
little ticky tack things that don't look like fouls, tackles on receivers that aren't calls! it's been crazy! >> al: what else is new? the 11th first down by penalty in this game. eleven. to the 37 yard line. this is ridley. he is going to take it to the 40 yard line. another flag comes in. 22 accepted penalties, 176 accepted yards. we try to behave ourselves, i got to tell you. >> referee: unsportsmanlike conduct, defense, on the bench. >> cris: john harbaugh is saying i was trying to call a time-out and get your attention. the nfl cracked down on coaches
11:39 pm
coming out on the field this week and trying to intimidate these refs. you know harbaugh is still worked up over that last call. he comes out there. who knows what he was doing. he is claiming he was trying to call a time-out. the official wasn't buying it. he is begging the official to come over and talk to him. instead, he got a flag. he says he was trying to call a time-out. chant i've ever heard. >> cris: if they had called a hold on lardarius webb, i would have bought into that. he did grab the jers, but illegal contact is a different foul. >> al: from the 45 yard line on first down. they have to take a time-out here and hurry and they will, i'm sure. ridley gets tackled by lewis. and let's go back now to the call on the welker play. >> cris: here we go.
11:40 pm
get a little jersey grabbing here. i think he's going to release, though, at about the 5-yard marker. right there is the jersey pull but that would be pass interference. what they called was illegal contact. >> al: right. >> cris: so either they made the wrong call on the field or they mess it up. >> al: i've lost track. >> cris: you know, it's been fun. >> al: well, yeah, in a way! >> cris: this is sort of like backyard, let's just go at it with two great teams and -- but it's been all over the place and really the other foul that is a consequence was the one on mccourty on the other side that didn't look like much if anything at all that kept that drive alive going for the ravens. >> al: you call your neighbors in to officiate.
11:41 pm
no seven-second delay on that one. second down and nine from the 34. the patriots take a time-out. >> referee: time-out, new england. their first charged time-out. it will be a 30-second time-out. >> cris: this is the kind of game these two teams practice for. i mean they literally practice for this style of game knowing what they have been seeing the the officials would let some >> al: yeah. >> cris: no offense to these guys. >> al: they are doing their best. >> cris: they are doing their best but they are not qualified to do this job.
11:42 pm
they really are not. that's become fairly obvious as we have gone along. >> al: right. second down and nine with the ball at the 44 yard line. brady is going to get sacked. he holds on to the football. ngata and ellerbe come in there for the sack. to make it a third and very long and they are going to wind the clock now and baltimore will not take a time-out on this side of the two-minute warning. so they still have two. we have come to the two minute warning. it will be third down and 16 whether we come back to a two-point game in baltimore. .

11:45 pm
baltimore has one time-out. plus the two-minute warning. upcoming is third down and 16 from the 49 yard line. crowd reorganize and stopping and brady nearly gets sacked but gets it away and that pass is incomplete. paul kruger put the pressure on. and that stops the clock with 2:01. so another good break for baltimore because they are going to get the two-minute warning and still have a time-out on the other side and get the ball back. >> cris: double pressure here essentially meant no man had kruger coming off the edge. brady just getting rid of it and now here you go, joe flacco. looking for those moments to define your career? this will be a pretty good one for a two-minute drive. >> al: mesko with a very short kick. fair catch called for and made
11:46 pm
and then dropped! and then recovered by jacoby jones. they have seen that before in building town but when he was wearing a houston texans uniform. 1:55 remaining. flacco and his team down by two. .
11:47 pm
>> al: a division crown led to the ultimate. >> the new york giants are the super bowl champs. >> now the swagger is back but the eagles have only the rivalry of late and with an explosive offensive attack, a chance to draw first blood on "sunday night football." >> al: coming up after the game, wendy's postgame report. we take a look ahead to the giants and the eagles next
11:48 pm
sunday night. but plenty of business still to come here. bill belichick since joining the patriots in 2000, 110-5 when leading by nine points or more in the fourth quarter. >> cris: marshal yanda with a big responsibility at right guard. he has jeremy cunningham he has to hold up. >> al: flacco on first down. jones adjusting and making the catch. jacoby jones up at the 45 yard line. 24-yard gain. baltimore with one time-out. on a best case basis, they would run it all the way down and kick a field goal to win it. 1:30. to the outside. and that is caught and out of bounds goes dennis pitta, after a very short gain. their field goal kicker is the rookie justin tucker. there is belichick exercised on
11:49 pm
the sideline and here is what he is angry at. >> cris: did jacoby jones do anything wrong on this one? nope. didn't look like it. great play. >> al: second down and seven. flacco hanging in there! and to the outside again! and the catch is made by dennis pitta. his number one receiver coming into the game. already at the 35. free agent kicker tucker. >> cris: big year so far. 6 for 6. made kicks of 48, 51 and 56 last year replacing billy cundiff who missed the kick that could have sent the ravens to the super bowl a year ago. >> al: three long ones last week in philadelphia. from the 35 yard line on first down. inside give and going nowhere this time is ray rice. >> cris: obviously, you're playing two roles here.
11:50 pm
you're playing against the clock. you don't want to give tom brady another shot. i don't want my game winning field goal to be from 50 plus yards either. you got to think we have to get at least another 15, 20 yards. >> al: 10 or 15. massage the clock here. second down. incomplete. >> cris: whoa! >> al: bended for boldin and arrington fell down on the play. third and nine. >> cris: arrington if he stays on his feet will catch this like a fair catch. 24 coming down the field. just loses his balance. that thing is coming right to him and he just got bitten by the carpet slug. wow. >> al: third down and nine with the ball at the 34 yard line. from the gun. four-man rush. going down the right side again and that is incomplete but here comes two flags in! and jacoby jones knows it's
11:51 pm
going to be against mccourty. >> cris: adjustment for jacoby jones. a week ago in that game, got offensive pass interference called, major controversy over that. >> referee: pass interference, defense, number 32. automatic first down at the spot of the foul. >> al: the ravens walk into the end zone. >> cris: we saw that in super bowl, didn't we? >> al: we certainly did. >> cris: arm draped around. absolutely no question about that one. and joe flacco is getting it done. >> al: at the 7 yard line. 46 seconds. patriots have two time-outs. all he is going to do is go down at the 9 yard line. >> cris: you know it's so interesting about this, though? justin tucker is a guy they were worried about and didn't know if they wanted to make the call or take him or not because he never really had to make the big pressure kick in the preseason. they are getting ready to find out all they ever want to know
11:52 pm
about him. >> al: the patriots have their two time-outs but it barely matters at this point. they elect not to use them. it will be second down and goal and they will let the clock tick all the way down and the game is going to end one way or another with a justin tucker field goal attempt out of the university of texas. >> cris: you know, i understand the strategy. you want this to be the last play but i also -- there's a little piece of me saying i wouldn't mind this being down to seven or eight seconds just in case i bobble the snap. >> al: you bet. >> cris: and then you can sort of throw that one away and take another shot. >> al: yep. >> cris: instead, they go down to two seconds. >> al: yep. no margin for error. at least if there was a bobbled snap, you could still take a time-out.
11:53 pm
now it's all or nothing. >> cris: now we get the whole finalo -- time-out thing going here with belichick. >> al: bill will call a time-out just before the snap. there is the time-out called by new england. >> cris: yeah, on the field, the players called the time-out. >> referee: time-out, new england. >> al: 899 yards of offense tonight. 24 penalties in the game. torrey smith, just an incredible performance under the circumstances with six catches and 127 yards and two touchdowns.
11:54 pm
a moment of silence for his brother in the stadium before the game. now the ravens try to win a wild and crazy one. justin tucker for the win. oh, just good! the patriots are saying no! >> cris: wilfork can't believe it! wilfork took his helmet off and went screaming right to the official! this one goes high over the upright and was really close! >> al: i tell you what, the uprights extend through the heavens, so if they kick it over the top of it, it's good. oh! you can't make this stuff up.
11:55 pm
you can't! >> cris: nobody had a better view of it than that official looking straight up the upright. wow. wow. >> al: there is no doinks in the stratosphere. that is good. >> cris: torrey smith, congratulations, my friend. what a performance. what a game. >> al: patriots think it is no good, but it is good. and baltimore goes by the thinnest of margins to 2-1. the patriots are under .500 for the first time in nine years. oh, boy. well, that's a few bucks.
11:56 pm
between the uprights is a reviewable thing. if it goes between but above the uprights, just so you know, is not reviewable so you can't review that play one way or another. because it went over the top of the upright. >> cris: i can't believe bill belichick just did that. >> al: oh, neither can i. wendy's postgame report is coming up right up. .
11:57 pm
11:58 pm
by the skin of their teeth, the ravens win their 13th straight home game, count ago playoff win.
11:59 pm
22 of their last 23 here and this had to be among the most exciting. the rookie justin tucker after a time-out, last play of the game, two seconds. and although there was some controversy, the replay shows that, in fact, it snuck just inside or just above the right upright but it was good and here is an enraged bill belichick after the game making contact with the official and as cris collinsworth said, that is certain to cost him some money and some kind of reprimand. among the stars of the game, torrey smith remarkable under the circumstances as al noted. six catches, two of them for koucheds. joe flacco threw three touchdowns and two caught by smith. ray rice had better than a hundred yards plus five catches. all three with michele. >> michele: torrey it hasn't even been 24 hours since you lost your little brother. you come into this game, score two touchdowns, get the win. a critical win. what does this one mean to you?
